Annual General Meetings

47th Annual General Meeting was held on the 8th June, 2012 at the Lions Activity Centre.

Nalanda Old Boys Association –

  • Rear Admiral (Retd.) Sarath Rathnakeerthi elected as the Vice President

Junior Old Boys Association –

  • Mr. Ravi Hettiarachchi was elected as the President

Past Cricketers’ Association –

  • Mr. Migara Perera was elected as the President

47th Annual General Meeting was held on the 8th June, 2012 at the Lions Activity Centre.

Mr. Hemantha Prematilake, the former Principal was felicitated at the AGM and a Memento in appreciation of dedication and good work done in his tenure of one decade, was presented at a School Function on the 1st of June, 2010.

Football

14 UK manufactured footballs worth Rs. 65,000/-  were donated to the school by  Mr. P.T.C.Viithana. These were presented to the Principal, last year, along with  6 footballs donated by the ONSC. This year, too, on the 6th of  October, 2010,  Mr. P.T.C. Vithana, a member of the ONSC and a distinguished old boy who played soccer for the school in late fifties, donated another 5 footballs and 5 rugger balls, worth nearly Rs. Fifty Thousand,.to the Principal.

On this occassion the President, ONSC presented to the Principal the Overhead Projector donated by Dr. D.B.Wijetunge of London, to be used for presentations at the school and in  the Mallalasekera Hall, once it is completed.

Mr. Sunil Wickrematunge, too, donated shuttle cocks. Members of the Executive committee
of the ONSC and the Prefect of Games were present.

Ananda - Nalanda Annual Football match was held at CR & FC Ground on the 4th November 2010.  Rs. 50,000.00 was donated by ONSC as a sponsorship.

 

Col. Henry Steele Olcott Cricket Tournament – 2011.

This tournament which was postponed due to bad weather has been re-scheduled to the 11th, 12th, and the 13th of February at the Uyanwatta Esplanade, Matara.

A Felicitation Dinner by the Rahula College will be held on the 12th night.

Rajans Vs. Nalanda for the Bandula Warnapura Trophy.

 

Nalada College Vs Dharmaraja College match played for Bandula Warnapura Trophy was not played, this year, due to bad weather in Kandy.

Dinner Dance 2012 (Maroons’ Nite 2012)

 

The Dinner Dance will be held at the Waters Edge, Battaramulla on the 3rd of February, 2012. The Dance is organized, jointly by Old Anandians' Sports Club and Old Nalandians' Sports Club.
A Couple Ticket will be Rs. 10,000/- and a Single Ticket at Rs. 6,000/-

Donation.

A Well wisher of Nalanda, Mr. Nalin Ratnapriya donated Rs. 500,000/- to the ONSC fund. His wife handed over the cheque to the President, ONSC 0n the 14th. of October, 2010, at the ONSC secretariat

 

Donation.

Nalin Ratnapriya from Italy made another donation of Rs. 100,000/-for the Old Nalandians' Sports Club. The cheque was handed over by his wife at ONSC secreteriat.

School Cricket

 

The total expenditure for the competent and efficient coaching structure covering all age Groups, with the view of developing skill and quality cricketers to represent Nalanda College at the National level, and provide appropriate facilities to coaches and substantial remunerations to them for their services will be Rs. 2.4 million per annum, out of which ONSC has to bear Rs.900,000/- annually. To meet this commitment, ONSC needs help and donations from the past cricketers and well wishers, living here and abroad,  who will like to see, that Glory is brought  to Nalanda College in the cricket fields.

 

Nalanda  emerge  the Munchee T20 Champions.

Nalanda College beat Trinty College convincingly with a ten wicket win at final at NCC Grounds. Nalanda Skipper Dinuk Jayasinghe and last year skipper Nipun Karunanayake laid the foundation for this resounding win.

Trinity 71 in 15.1 overs (Dinuk Jayasinghe 3 for 6 and Nipun Karunanayake 3 for 9) Nalanda 72 for no loss in 9.1 overs (NipumKarunanayake 39 n.o. Prishan Wickremasinghe 33 n.0.)

 

 

 

 

T 20 tournament in Lucknow

T 20 tournament in Lucknow,India. The trophy was won by Nalanda college beating Ananda College in the final. ONSC sponsored air tickets to the value of Rs. 100,000.00 for four officials who accompanied the team.

 

 

Ananda Nalanda Big Match in March 2012.

Will be played on the 3rd and 4th of March at the S.S.C. Grounds and the 50 Over match on the 11th March.2012.

Colours Awarding Ceremony 2010.

 

Colours Awarding Ceremony was held on the 25th March, 2011 at the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo. The chief guest was the Hon. Deputy speaker, Speaker a distinguished Old Nalandian Mr.Chandima Weerakkody.

The Squash Court donated by Old Boy Mr. Kassapa Mahendra de Silva was ceremonially opened by His Excellency the President on the 26th. of October, 2009.
